General Overhauling- Turbine Scope of Work

Decommissioning Activities

Recording of operational values during run-down:

  • Shaft vibrations
  • Absolute and differential expansions Eccentricity
  • Turbine shaft position
  • White metal bearing temperatures Bearing oil pressures
  • Run-down time from barring

Disassembly Activities

High-Pressure (HP&IP) Turbine

  • Removal of instrumentation (e.g., diff & absolute expansion probes, thermocouples).
  • Marking of valve reference positions.
  • Measuring of turbine cold datum sizes.
  • Bolt heating and removal of the top outer and inner casings.
  • Removal of diaphragms, gland carriers, and rotors.
  • Measuring and measuring of shaft axial and radial clearances.
  • Removal of the bottom and top half components.

Low-Pressure (LP) Turbine

  • Removal of cross-over pipes, gland boxes, and exhaust hoods.
  • Removal of the top and bottom inner casings.
  • Dismantling and removal of diaphragms and diaphragm carriers.
  • Removal of LP rotors.

Centerline Work

  • Removal of pedestal instrumentation.
  • Opening and removal of coupling guards and pedestal covers.
  • Removal of top and bottom half bearings and oil baffles.
  • Measuring and recording of rotor running positions.
  • Recording of shaft concentricity and alignment.
  • Splitting of coupling.

Turbine Valves (Emergency Stop Valves (ESV), Control Valves (CV) and LP/IP Bypass)

  • Recording of stroke checks.
  • Removal of servo couplings, heat shields and oil pipes.
  • Removal and recording of servo motor pretension.
  • Stripping of valve internals.

Servo Motors

  • Stripping of servo motors for inspection.
  • Removal of power and control blocks.
  • Removal of Moog control valves.
  • Removal of power pistons and spindles.
